My teacher is lagging behind

I received thousands of complains from students where their school teacher is lagging off while major UPSR, PMR and SPM examinations are around the corner. It is April today and we are still struggling in chapter 1 !!!! So what should I do now? In such situation, it is your responsibility as students to report such manner to your headmaster and parents. Child Difficulty - Hard to catch up with other peers

News: Student Selling Drugs

To all parents... Please take extra care of your students. Please take time to monitor your child. Better to be safe than to regret.

A 17 year old girl by the nickname of "Ice Ice Baby"was nab after pushing to sell syabu or "ice" to other students. She was earning good income approximate RM500 per day. The reason why she got strayed was due to financial difficulty.

“One of my schoolmates persuaded me to be a tokan (mini drug dealer) to earn money in an easy way,” she told Harian Metro.

“I was attracted to the high salary and flexible working hours. I continue working when the school reopened this year,” she said, adding that there were ready customers in her school and housing area in Hulu Selangor.

“Ice is famous among secondary school students and in demand as it is easy to carry without being spotted,” she said.

“There was once instead of text or reference books, I filled my bag with various types of drug,” she added.

Amy said she earned RM500 a day and used the money to buy more drugs and alcoholic drinks.

SPM Result OUT 2008 from Thestar

This year we have 6277 students scoring straights A's in SPM compred to 5060 students in year 2007.

For A1 scorer : 1676 students
16 A1's : 16 students
15 A1's : 2 students
14A1's : 6 Students
Passing All : 46.7% passing all subjects

PUTRAJAYA: The 2008 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results announced Thursday saw 6,277 students scoring straight As in all subjects compared with 5,060 in 2007.

Education Ministry Director-General Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom said 1,676 students scored A1s in all subjects compared with 892 in 2007, while 181,416 or 46.7% passed all subjects compared with 175,452 in 2007.

“There were three excellent result achievers who scored A1s in all 16 subjects, two who scored A1 in 15 subjects while six scored A1s in 14 subjects,” said Alimuddin while announcing the SPM and STAM results here Thursday.

Last year, 442,936 students sat for the SPM compared with 439,255 in 2007; 435 Special students also sat for the examination last year compared with 355 the previous year. -- Bernama

Kepler will be our telescope to search for Earth like planets in our Solar System

The telescope, named Kepler, rode into a starry night sky aboard an unmanned Delta rocket that blasted off at 10:49 p.m. EST from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

"So far, although we've discovered more than 300 planets (beyond the solar system), we haven't discovered any Earths," said NASA's associate administrator for space science Ed Weiler.

Kepler, named for the 17th century astronomer Johannes Kepler, is designed to do just that.

Once in position trailing Earth around the sun, Kepler will turn its gaze onto a patch of sky between the constellations Cygnus and Lyra that is filled with more than 4 million stars. Scientists plan to scrutinize Kepler's observations of more than 100,000 targets in hopes of catching tiny blinks of light caused by passing planets. Read more

Blooms of jellyfish have also appeared in the overfished waters of the Black Sea, Alaska, the Mediterranean and the Gulf of Mexico. In the Sea of Japan, overfishing of sardines and anchovies, plus blooms of phytoplankton caused by nutrient-rich coastal run-off, have led to a jellyfish problem of epic proportions: autumn blooms of the giant jellyfish Nemopilema nomurai, which can grow to more than 2 metres in diameter. In 2003 alone this jellyfish cost the Japanese fishing industry over $100 million, "clogging and bursting nets, causing high mortality of the catch due to venom, increasing the risk of capsizing trawlers and giving fishermen painful stings", says Masato Kawahara, a marine ecologist at Hiroshima University in Japan....
